Topic:  Soul of Islam 4 - Motherhood: An Islamic perspective
Speaker:  Saara Sabbagh
Outline:  Motherhood symbolic of love, caring and new life is a precious and beautiful part of many womens lives. In Islam, the importance of motherhood is reflected by a saying of the Prophet Muhammad which describes heaven as being at the feet of a mother. From Mary, the mother of Jesus and Aisha, the Prophet Muhammads wife and Mother of the Believers, to everyday Muslims, the respect and honour given to mothers in Islam is immense.

In this lecture Saara Sabbagh will discuss the concept of motherhood and the elevated place that mothers hold within Islam. Saara herself is a mother of three. She is also a youth worker and cross-cultural educator. Passionate about the revival of Islams spiritual tradition, Saara has studied with traditional female Islamic scholars in Syria.

The Asia Education Foundation with the support of Asialink and the Islamic Council of Victoria presents this program.
