Movers and Shakers - Reconstructing Islam in Contemporary Muslim Thought |
| Outline: |
Throughout time, influential and compelling individuals have inspired Muslim political and ideological movements. Coming from all corners of the Muslim world, these leaders have reacted to the specific political situations of their time, resulting in unique developments across communities. Today, the legal and cultural traditions of the Muslim world are as varied as the individuals who have inspired them.
Anisa Buckley, a PhD Candidate in Islamic Studies and consultant with LB International Consultants, is also a Director of Islamic Foundation Australia. With Muslim intellectuals and leaders spread throughout Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the West, Anisa will provide an insight into some of the key movers and shakers of contemporary Muslim thought.
The Asia Education Foundation with the support of Asialink and the Islamic Council of Victoria presents this program.
