Outline:  Once again Asialink has secured one of the regions leading political commentators for an exclusive free public lecture. Chinese Professor Qin Yaqing, respected commentator on China's foreign policy and national identity, will be at Asialink tomorrow night.

In a recent interview with Newsweek Professor Qin identified China's demand for energy as its immediate interest and noted that new Chinese leaders were much more transparent and straight forward.

Professor Qin has published many books and articles, including Twenty Years' Crisis (forthcoming), Perception and Misperception in International Politics (2003), and Contemporary China and Its Foreign Policy (2003). He was on the resource team for the UN High Panel for Challenges, Threats, and Changes (2003) and worked as Special Assistant to the Chinese Eminent Person, China-ASEAN Eminent Persons Group (2005)

Professor Qin Yaqing is Executive Vice President China Foreign Affairs University and Vice President China National Association of International Studies. He has a Ph. D. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA and received training in international economy at the Antwerp University, Belgium.
