In the fifth Sense of Islam Lecture, Dr Fiona Hill will describe a day in the life of women living in settled Bedouin communities on the northern Euphrates River in Syria - their daily work, their social relationships, their personal habits, and their overall conception of Arab customs and traditions in the context of Islam. Dr Hill will explore their experience of Islam, and gives examples of some of the themes that have been presented in the preceding lectures.
Dr Fiona Hill is Director of Almanar Consultancy, working to increase and improve cultural and commercial interactions between Australia and the Arab region. Fiona is Founder and Manager of the Islamic World Discovery Project (IWDP) that is creating resources for use in Australian primary and secondary school curricula to build awareness of the Islamic world and perspective. Dr Hill is a member of the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) and the Independent Scholars Association of Australia.
